UNity is the weekly national on-line publication of the United Nations Association of Australia. The editor is based in Brisbane and the Contributing Editor lives in Canberra. Contributions are particularly welcome from all over Australia and the South East Asia/Pacific region.

Each week UNity goes to Australian federal and state politicians,
non-government organisations, human rights activists and lawyers,
doctors, academics and journalists. It is also passed around
within organisations.

It goes also to the United Nations and several of its agencies, to a
number of UN representatives and officials overseas. It is
available to Australian diplomatic missions and to individual
readers and organisations in Denmark, the UK, US, New Zealand, Samoa, Singapore, Canada, Japan, Mexico, Pakistan, Germany, Switzerland and elsewhere.

A new issue is scheduled for every Friday at:

CLIMATE CHANGE COUNTDOWN
Australia’s Chief Scientist Penny Sackett, in March 2009, said the world had only six years to radically lower emissions or face calamitous, unstoppable global warming.
A weekly UNity CLIMATE CHANGE COUNTDOWN monitors time passing.
This week there are 266 weeks left in which to radically lower emissions.

WARNING: UNity readers should be aware that there appear to be a number of so-called United Nations organisations and conferences - some aimed at youth - which are promoted on the Internet but whose origins are dubious. It is particularly concerning when participants are invited to attend overseas conferences. The origins (and credibility) of some organisations are obscure and need careful scrutiny before any action is taken. It is very likely that some are bogus.  For clarification, check out details with the UN Information Centre, Canberra, at: julia.dean@unic.org
